Fogel Claims Second Enduro Win Of The Season, Mangiaracina and Loveland Also Take top Honors At Rockford Speedway August 12

Rockford, IL, August 12 - Mark Fogel of West Bend, WI, collected his second Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series win of the season during the running of the "STATELINE STAFFING SERVICES 250" enduro held at the Rockford Speedway. Fogel held off current Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series point leader Ryan Nuti by a fender length for the win.

Fogel was the overall winner and first in the "A" Class over Nuti. First in the "B" Class was Jay LeBrun over Mike Herwald.

The top ten in each class received plaque awards plus prize money. The awards were courtesy of CBA Tire.

The evening started with the running of the CBA Tire sponsored “STATELINE STAFFING SERVICES15" powder puff event. Barb Loveland was the winner of the event over Niki Nuti. Kim Speciale battled with Loveland in the early going of the 15 lap event and looked like she was going to be the one to beat until she experienced mechanical problems on lap 7. Loveland took over from that point and held off a charging Nuti at the line for the win.

The "STATELINE STAFFING SERVICES 125" Midwest Enduro Small Car Series 4-cylinder event had Steve Mueller out in front of Louis Chatroop and Steve Bayer in the early going of the 125 lap event. As the field approached the 25 lap marker Mangiaracina caught Mueller and was shown as the race leader followed by Mueller, Bayer, Mark Johler and Chatroop to round out the top five. Johler really was on the move as he caught Mueller on lap 40 as Mangiaracina began to stretch the lead by nearly ten seconds on the pair at this point. Johler and Mueller stepped up the pace as the two battled side by side for the next thirty circuits cutting the deficit to four seconds behind the leader by lap 70. Johler moved to within one second of the leader Mangiaracina by lap 75 with Mueller now only three seconds off the pace. For the next 50 circuits the story was going to be whether or not Johler could keep up with Mangiaracina and beat him through lapped traffic. Johler was on Mangiaracina’s bumper at lap 95 and stayed there for the remainder of the event not able to make the move for the win. At the line it was Mangiaracina claiming his first ever Midwest Enduro Small Car Series win ahead of Johler, Mueller, Chatroop and Evan Townsend to round the top five.

Two time Series Champion Tom Barnharst set the early pace as the field was let go for the running of the "STATELINE STAFFING SERVICES 250" Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series main event. Barnharst led the first 12 laps before Art Speciale took command of the 250 lap event. Speciale started to pull away from Barnharst and the rest of the field and by the 50 lap marker he held a seven second advantage over Barnharst and LeBrun. Fogel was starting to make his way in to the picture however as he went past Barnharst on lap 58 to take up the second spot. As the field rolled to the first of two mandatory refueling pit stops on lap 83, Speciale was the race leader followed by Fogel, Nuti, LeBrun and Barnharst.

During the break Speciale experienced mechanical problems and was not able to return. Fogel took advantage of his pit stop and the Speciale miss fortune to take the point. Fogel would not have it easy however as Nuti was close behind waiting for the right time to make a move. The two were close up to the 125 lap marker but from there to the next pit stop on lap 166 Fogel had pulled to a six second advantage over Nuti. As the field slowed for the last pit stop, Fogel and Nuti were the only two cars on the lead lap and the race for the win was going to be between the two talented drivers. The top five at this point were Fogel, Nuti, LeBrun, Craig Phillips and Herwald.

The final 84 laps could have been called the “Fogel ~ Nuti Shootout” as the intensity really picked up for the final segment of the 250 lap event. For the remainder of the event Fogel never lost command but Nuti was never more than three seconds off the pace. With less than ten to go, Nuti made a huge charge and was even at the 245 lap marker. Nuti made one last bid on the final circuit and came up a fender short as Fogel collected the win in a thriller. The top five at the line were Fogel, Nuti, LeBrun, Herwald and Don Lunsford.

The next Series event is scheduled for Monday afternoon September 3 at the Milwaukee Mile road course (West Allis, WI). The “Labor Day 160” main event will also feature many preliminary events for the whole family. For further information call (262) 895-6682 from 6- 9 pm. or leave a message.
