Fogel Top Of The Field At Milwaukee Mile "Bema Polytech 160" Enduro Headliner
West Allis, WI, June 10 - Veteran driver Mark Fogel of West Bend, recorded his first win of the season during Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series competition held at the historic Milwaukee Mile oval. Fogel held the point for most of the 160 lap event. The "Bema Polytech 160" enduro started 76 entrants including the full size "stock car" division and the 4-cylinder "small car" division. Both divisions competed at the same time for a history breaking event.

Fogel was first overall followed by Scott Riemer and Jared Pinkalla. All three reached the Milwaukee Mile podium and earned huge trophies for their efforts plus prize money. First in the "small car" class was current point leader Louis Chatroop. Chatroop's victory was his first of the season and second of his career in Series competition. All trophy awards were courtesy of Bema Polyech Inc. of Elmhurst, IL

The top ten in each class received plaque awards plus prize money. The awards were courtesy of the Klement's Sausage Co. of Milwaukee and Paulie's Pub of West Allis.

Dave Edwards started from the pole position during the running of the "Paulie's Pub 30" WILTSS street stock event and led from start to finish to capture the win. The event was slowed early for a Ryan Gutknecht driveline failure causing a yellow flag for clean up. After the start Vaughn Lesko challenged early but Edwards once again pulled away to a sizeable win at the line. Following Edwards for the top five were Lesko, Al Kuphal, Nick Nelson and Dave Erickson. The top five received plaque awards plus prize money. The awards were courtesy of Paulie's Pub.

The Klement's "Sausage Race" was most likely the best ever in Series history. After a slow start, "The Brat" pulled away from the rest of the sausages to edge "The Choriso" at the line. "The Hot Dog" was black flagged during the middle of the event for holding on to the other sausages.

A few of the members of the "Losers Car Club" were on hand to show off their vehicles prior to the main event. A car show in Indianapolis held a few back do to prior commitments but the likes of Wayne Weber, Keith Smith and Mark Goodman showed off their gems.

The 160 lap main event did not start the way everyone wanted to as the field was slowed after a one lap mishap between Charlie Pinkalla, Joe Brooke and a host of others including favorite Todd Booker. After a 4 lap delay under yellow to clean up all of the debri, Jared Pinkalla set the early pace from his pole position. Riemer caught Pinkalla by the lap 7 marker and took command one lap later. Pinkalla was not going to make it easy for Riemer however as the two swapped the lead several times before the first refueling pit stop on lap 37. As this was going on Fogel was making his way through the field and caught the two at the break. The top five at this point were Riemer, Fogel, Gerry Galloway, Jared Pinkalla and Pat Kinjerski.

Riemer, with his crew making a great pit stop, once again forged ahead. Fogel and Pinkalla were once again right there on Riemers back bumper. Pinkalla drifted off the pace slightly but Fogel did not as he took over on lap 48. Galloways day ended early on lap 75 when his engine expired as he and Darryl Traber were working together to catch Fogel. At the lap 77 pit stop Fogel was 12 seconds ahead of Riemer and 13 seconds ahead of a now running third place Traber.

Once again Riemer made a great stop and regained the lead as the field was set free for the second half of the event. Fogel regained the top spot at lap 99 and the order at lap 100 was Fogel, Riemer, Jason Condrad in a small car, Traber and Jared Pinkalla. As the field approached the final pit stop on lap 117, Fogel was six sconds ahead of Traber followed by Condrad, Riemer and Jared Pinkalla.

Fogel, Traber and Condrad made the best of the last pit stop as they virtually lined up nose to tail as the field lined up for the last 40 laps of the event. Fogel pulled ahead for the next two circuits before a caution came out to remove the Nick Henning car from turn three after substaining severe damage to the left side of his car. Henning was not injured. As the green once again flew, Condrad held the point briefly as did Traber before but Fogel would have none of that. Condrad began to slow on lap 140 as his left front tire became un balanced and he went to the pit area to make the change. Traber seemed to mount a challenge to Fogel but could not get past his rear bumper as Fogel had his car working in the turns and Traber would catch Fogel down the straightaway. As Traber made one last effort, the right front tire came apart at the lap 150 marker with ten circuits to go. Once Traber was out of the picture Fogel maintained his pace to beat Riemer at the line by a comfortable 24 second margin. Fogel and Riemer were the only two drivers on the lead lap at the line. The top five at the finish were Fogel, Riemer, Jared Pinkalla, Pat Kinjerski and Craig Phillips.

The next Series event is scheduled for Wednesday July 4 at the Grundy County Speedway (Morris, IL). for further information call (262) 895-6682 from 6- 9 pm. or leave a message. Additional up to date information can be found on the Series website at www.midwestenduro.com
