Traber & Brown Capture Wins In The Raceway @ Powercom Park Enduro Mudfest

Beaver Dam, WI, September 23 - After approximately one inch of rain fell over the track in the late afternoon hours, the running of the "Buddig / Old Wisconsin Sausage 200" enduro for the Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series and the "Buddig / Old Wisconsin Sausage 100" for the Midwest Enduro Small Car Series ran as planned. With the amount of rain that fell on the new clay surface the track was not going to dry with the damp weaPinkalla out in front!ther conditions through the evening. Darryl Traber moved ahead in the later stages of the 200 lap contest to take his first overall win of the season as Jasyn Brown captured his first career win in the Midwest Enduro Small Car Series.

Traber was the overall winner and first in the "A" class over Tom Barnharst. In the "B" class Brian Hillringhouse was first over Tom DeYoung and in the "C" class it was Dennis Wuesthoff over Julie Hayes.

Les Wiedenhoeft got the jump early as the "Buddig / Old Wisconsin Sausage 100" Small Car Enduro was on their way. Wiedenhoeft held a comfortable advantage over the rest of the field up to a red flag on lap 8 to get Tony Prietzel out of his stalled mount on the exit chute in to the pits. As the race resumed Dustin Richards got a good jump and went out front with Wiedenhoeft and Todd Booker close behind. Richards began to slow off the pace at the 15 lap marker with a flat as Wiedenhoeft and Booker would dice back and for the for the next ten circuits when Booker took cPinkalla out in front!ontrol of the event. Booker experienced some problems around the 35 lap marker and slowed a bit allowing Wiedenhoeft to close the gap once again. At lap 40 Booker and Wiedenhoeft were side by side with Wiedenhoeft using the extreme low groove and Booker using the high line around the 1/3 mile clay oval. As Booker and Wiedenhoeft were battling for the lead, Brown was making up ground on the leaders even despite being one lap down in the early going. On lap 49 Brown caught the front runners and it was now a three way battle for the lead with less than ten to go. With the 100 lap event having a 45 minute time limit the checkered flag would come out on lap 57. Wiedenhoeft had the lead on lap 52, Booker from laps 53 & 55 and Brown would go ahead for the last two to take the win. The top five at the line were Brown, Booker, Wiedenhoeft, Louis Chatroop and Dustin Ostberg.

With Pinkalla out in front!the conditions as they were on the track surface, the field for the "Buddig / Old Wisconsin Sausage 200" would start from a rolling start instead of the customary standing start as the cars would not have enough traction on the banking of the raceway. Jared Pinkalla immediately jumped out in front of the 200 lap event and nearly had the entire field lapped to the time he went to the pit area on lap 20 for a thrown belt. Pat Kinjerski then set the tone as he now started to out distance himself from the rest of the field. As the field came to the first of two mandatory refueling pit stops on lap 65 Kinjerski had and entire lap on second running Matt Born. Following Born at this point were Jay LeBrun, Hillringhouse and Barnharst.

As the track was beginning to condition in mostly the bottom to the center of the track the pace was slowly picking up. Kinjerski once again set the pace but as the yellow flag was displayed on lap 74 for a bumper left on the track, Kinjerski pulled in to the pit area on lap 77 with an apPinkalla out in front!parent flat tire. Born assumed the position as the field was let loose once again with Hillringhouse in hot pursuit. Hillringhouse got to with in four seconds of the leader at the 85 lap marker but would again loose ground after that. During this time Traber started to gain ground slowly on the leader and by lap 116 was side by side with Born and moved ahead on circuit later. As the field approached the final pit stop on lap 130 it was Traber in front of Born followed by Barnharst, Hillringhouse and Ryan Nuti. Traber, Born and Barnharst were the only three cars on the lead lap one lap ahead of Hillringhouse and three laps ahead of Nuti at this point.

Born recaptured the lead after the field was once again let loose for the final 70 circuits of the 200 lap event. Traber was two seconds behind the leader as he was spun by John Waldman but did not loose position. After a yellow for debri on lap 141, Traber soon after caught Born on lap 145 as Born began to slow off the pace with engine problems. With 50 to go the top five were TrabPinkalla out in front!er, Born, Barnharst, Hillringhouse and Nuti. There were three more yellows waved for debri on the track for the remainder of the event, one on lap 164, at 181 and 190. Traber distanced himself for the remainder of the event with Barnharst coming home in second followed by Born, Tom Ruh and Tom Arnold. Born was later disqualified from the event after not passing through post race inspection.

Because of the extent of the conditions for the day all point drivers who competed in the Midwest Enduro Small Car Series were awarded an additional 50 points and drivers in the Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series were awarded 100 additional points for their efforts in participating in the days events. Additional provisions may be made in future for all participants.

The final Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series and Midwest Enduro Small Car Series events for 2006 are set for Saturday evening October 7 at the Lake Geneva Raceway. This will also mark the final Pinkalla out in front!enduro event at the track as it will close after the conclusion of the 2006 season.
